ActiveCampaign sits in a sweet spot between Mailchimp (too simple the moment you segment seriously) and HubSpot (too expensive and too heavy unless you also use it for sales). The automation builder is actually visually logical instead of the Mailchimp tinkering, and you get CRM features without the HubSpot price. We regularly migrate accounts off Mailchimp when they hit 10,000 plus contacts or need multistep automations that Mailchimp cannot scale. Watch out: ActiveCampaign's own reporting is mediocre, so use an external BI tool or GA4 for real performance analysis.

Pair it with your website CMS (event tracking via the API or the Site Tracking script), Stripe or another payment platform for revenue attribution, and a dedicated landing page tool if you run a lot of campaigns (Unbounce, Instapage). The built-in forms are fine for simple opt-ins, but for conversion-optimized landing pages you miss A/B testing.
